The season of major motor events at the Umbria race course will resume on 23 and 24 February with the second edition of the 25-Hour Magione - Energy Saving Race, reserved for production models.
The objective of the competition is to obtain the best result in the ratio between average fuel consumption, average distance covered and weight of vehicle.
After the success of last year’s first time, this event has now reached its second edition, and it retains its philosophy and its objectives: it is not a speed race as such, it belongs to the realm of general traffic and energy saving studies that the Automobile Club d’Italia has undertaken at national level.
The vehicles competing will be split into four categories:
A) vehicles running on petrol;
B) vehicles running on diesel;
C) vehicles running on alternative energy;
D) “classic”, cars minimum 30 years old.
This category in particular will serve the purpose of demonstrating the evolution in average fuel consumption of cars over the last thirty years.
Like in 2007, this year too only invited participants will take part and it is the authorized car dealers that will be the protagonists of this race. Teams competing shall have minimum four and maximum eight drivers that will take turns during the long run.
