The title is "Selective affinities", works by the students of the "Pietro Vannucci" Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, the show will be opened on Thursday 7 February 2008, at 5 pm, at CERP - Centro Espositivo Rocca Paolina di Perugia.
This art event, promoted and organized by the Province of Perugia, Servizio Promozione Attività Culturali e Sociali and the “Pietro Vannucci” Academy of Fine Art in Perugia, will be on display and open to the public until 24 February 2008.
After the successful ARTEINCITTÀD’ARTE (2005), DEL FARE E DEL VEDERE (2006) and IN ITINERE (2007), the “Pietro Vannucci” Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia continues to collaborate with the Province and offers this new exhibition, SELECTIVE AFFINITIES, that will be opened by the Cultural Activities Councillor of the Province of Perugia, Pier Luigi Neri. The Under-secretary for Universities and Research and AFAM, Nando Dalla Chiesa, will also be present.
As the organizers commented – “This is an all-important educational moment in the life of this high culture Perugia institution, which is one of the most ancient in Italy. This exhibition that is open to the citizens of Perugia and all those interested, is meant to strengthen the firm conviction about the high educational and cultural value of artistic research, which is an objective that the Institution as a whole pursues with great commitment despite the difficult economic and financial situation, which we hope is being resolved thanks to the joint commitment of the local and national Public Bodies these last months . The show intends also to give an inside view of the current art work of this historic academy by offering, though in the form of a group exhibition, a series of small personal shows for about thirty students taken form all sections, chosen according the depth of their research: as always, special care will be afforded to the setting up of the exhibition, which will endeavour to offer the public those “Selective affinities”, a title that purposely recalls the famous work by Goethe, in the works by the students, which will dialogue with each other thanks to affinities of form and poetry as well as differences”.
During the period in which this exhibition will be open, there will also be another event organized to present the catalogue of the previous show IN ITINERE and the most worthy works displayed will be rewarded on the basis of a list drawn up by a jury of experts.
This art collection has been created by the Teaching Staff of the Academy of Fine Arts, with the coordination of the Director, Fabrizio Fabbroni and professor Emidio De Albentiis, and it counts on the logistic support of Albertina Possanzini, Giancarlo Gottoli, Eugenio Buratta, Giuseppe Ceccarelli.
The catalogue of the exhibition, including reviews with detailed analyses of the individual “personal shows” of the students who take part (including photos of the works in situ), will be published in Summer 2008.
The event will be open: every day (Mondays closed) 10am – 1pm / 4pm – 7.30pm
Admission is free.
